Good afternoon, Ian Bazalgette Community

This will be the last School Newsletter prior to the upcoming Spring Break (March 21-30).

A reminder that our CUPE 40 staff are still on strike. Please support the school by continuing to have conversations with your child about the importance of packing in and packing out their garbage with them. Continue to remind them that only liquids that are capped with screwable or clickable top/cap will be allowed in the school.

Please see important information for this week, and the school newsletter.

Athletics

Please help me in congratulating all of our volleyball teams, which had strong seasons and made the school proud.

Congratulations to our Sr. Boys Champions!

Jr. Boys Playoff still to come on Monday.

Attendance Reminder

In the weeks before and after a school’s spring break, drops in attendance are common.  In the face of challenging weather and illness, it can be difficult for parents to be persistent with keeping your kids learning and engaged! We appreciate everyone’s hard work and commitment. Thank you!

As long as your student is healthy, please encourage showing up to class when school is in session. If you have questions about your student coming to school due to a health or mental health concerns, please contact Administration, Student Services, or any of your child’s teachers.

Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn and connect to peers and their teachers. And communities only grow better when spending time with one another.

We wanted to bring to your attention an exciting opportunity that may interest families.

Recently, we’ve been in touch with our counterparts at the City of Calgary, who have encouraged us to submit entries for this exciting video contest.

Please find attached the updated poster for the 2025 Travel Safe Student Video Contest. This contest is open to all Calgary students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 and aims to promote safety while traveling on city streets, sidewalks, and pathways. This contest encourages students to think creatively about how to stay safe in their daily journeys by creating a 30s video. There is a chance to win prizes and have their work featured in future City safety campaigns. More information about the contest can be found on the contest webpage.

Got Lunch?

We remain a closed campus at lunchtime. We want to remind families that students need to bring their lunch or eat the lunches provided by school. We are not able to provide access to microwaves for student use. As a reminder, we are not able to receive Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc. in the main office. The driver will be asked to return the delivery to the restaurant.
