Good morning, Ian Bazalgette Community

Unfortunately the CUPE 40 strike continues on, with noticeable impacts on schools likely to begin showing. Please have a conversation with your child to impart on them the importance of packing in and packing out their garbage with them. Also, remind them that only liquids that are capped with screwable or clickable tops/caps will be allowed in the school.

Please see important information for this week, and the school newsletter.

Learn and Share | School Planning

We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That’s why we’ll be sharing information about school planning and asking you to share your perspectives.

Share your perspectives through an online survey open from Feb 19 to March 20, 2025. Watch this short video to learn about the planning work schools do to improve and support student learning.

Our School Development Plan and School Budget and Fees information can be found on the school website.

Here is a link to the survey The survey has been translated to 30 different languages.

Donuts and pop will be distributed to students during periods 5 and 6 on the 19.

Travel Safe Student Video Contest

We wanted to bring to your attention an exciting opportunity that may interest families.

Recently, we’ve been in touch with our counterparts at the City of Calgary, who have encouraged us to submit entries for this exciting video contest.

Please find attached the updated poster for the 2025 Travel Safe Student Video Contest. This contest is open to all Calgary students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 and aims to promote safety while traveling on city streets, sidewalks, and pathways. This contest encourages students to think creatively about how to stay safe in their daily journeys by creating a 30s video. There is a chance to win prizes and have their work featured in future City safety campaigns. More information about the contest can be found on the contest webpage.

Got Lunch?

We remain a closed campus at lunchtime. We want to remind families that students need to bring their lunch or eat the lunches provided by school. We are not able to provide access to microwaves for student use. As a reminder, we are not able to receive Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc. in the main office. The driver will be asked to return the delivery to the restaurant.
