Lunch - Closed Campus

We remain a closed campus at lunchtime. We want to remind families that students need to bring their lunch or eat the lunches provided by school. We are not able to provide access to microwaves for student use. As a reminder, we are not able to receive Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc. in the main office. The driver will be asked to return the delivery to the restaurant.

Lunch | School Supervision

The local community centre and local strip mall are open to students at lunch, as the school supports Junior High School students with growing levels of freedoms and responsibilities. However, please remember that there is no staff supervision of these locations. Please have conversations with your student(s) about being aware of their surroundings when out in public spaces.

School Fees

Schools cannot cover all costs to offer the variety of programming they do. Continued refusal to pay fees may mean a suspension of certain programming in option courses next year, or cancellation of field trips, and possibly even reduction in teacher staffing.

Please pay now. Please note fee waivers do not apply to school complementary course fees.

*Note: There are some outstanding fees from Semster #1 that must be paid in full.

More information about school fees can be found on our school fees page and see how to pay fees through your MyCBE account.

Personal Mobile Devices Policy

Personal mobile devices include any device that can be used to communicate with or access the internet, such as a cell phone, tablet, gaming device, laptop, or smartwatch. This also includes devices capable of communicating with a mobile device such as headphones and Bluetooth devices.

These rules apply to all students, with exceptions for students using devices for health and medical needs, to support specialized learning needs, or for educational purposes.

  • CBE will block student access to known social media platforms on school networks and school devices for all grade levels.
  • K-9 Students: personal mobile devices are not permitted during the school day. Devices brought to school must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. They should be left in backpacks, lockers, or areas designated by teachers - or better yet, simply left at home.
  • Grade 10-12 Students: personal mobile devices are not allowed during class time unless teachers allow it for specific learning tasks. Devices should be silenced or turned off and stowed away in a bag, backpack, locker, or designated area as directed by teachers.

If a student is found using a personal mobile device in class without permission, the CBE will work with the student to ensure the rules are understood, following a progressive discipline policy. In rare cases where a student does not respond to interventions, their personal mobile device may be banned.
