Thankfully our area of Canada sits just outside of the polar vortex bringing extremely chilly weather. Even though we should seen a return to more temperate weather this week, as always please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for changing weather conditions. A quick reminder that there are no classes on January 30.
Please see this week's important reminders and the School Newsletter.
Student Illness
As is typical in early January, we are seeing an increase in student and staff absences due to illnesses across many of our schools. We would like to remind everyone of health measures they can take to reduce transmission of flu, Covid-19 variants, and RSV:
- If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them at home.
- Continue to wash hands frequently and cover coughs and sneezes.
- Students and staff can continue to make their own decision regarding masking.
We continue to follow the guidance and direction provided by Alberta Education and AHS.
Semester Two Begins on January 28
Students will receive their second semester schedule from their Homeroom teachers on Monday and Tuesday of this week. With regards to Option change requests for semester #2, please not this is something that many Junior High Schools do not accomodate since these schools are not staffed at the same rates as much larger High Schools. They is very little available felxibility in programmings. Accordingly, our option classes are at capacity.
Science Alternative Open House
A reminder to our families, some of whom may have younger siblings in Gr. 6 Science Alternative Programming at Valley View Elementary, we will be holding our Open House evening this Thursday.
School Fees
School fees for Term 1/Semester 1 option/complementary course fees have been applied to the students accounts in MyCBE.
Please pay now. Please note fee waivers do not apply to school complementary course fees.
More information about school fees can be found How to Pay Fees Through Your MyCBE Account
Psychological Services
We are happy to report that our school has been assigned a few Psychological Services for Semester #2. We will have a Psychologist on site two days a week to assist informally with reviewing supports for students. Formal consults with the Psychologist, for counselling, will occur through formal referrals and with direct consent of parents/guardians.
Report Cards
Report Cards will be made viewable February 24, slightly after the end of semester one. This is to ensure students have had enough time to cover the essential materials offered during semester one.
