Good afternoon, Ian Bazalgette Community

As we come to the close of our final school week of 2024, we want to thank you for your support and trust with your students. Note that there is school every day this week, following a normal school bell schedule--including Friday.

Please see important updates and the school newsletter for this week:

Locker Clean-Out

Students are expected to have cleaned out their lockers of food items and student items by Wednesday, December 18, 2024. To help facilitate this we will have a brief locker clean out at the end of the day on Wednesday.

Family Trips - Reminder

We want to remind parents to fill out the Extended Leave Form in the main office in those situations where families may be leaving for extended periods attached to the beginning or end of the current timeframe for winter break.

Holiday Fundraiser Campaign 2024

This year we have decided that in lieu of providing holiday hampers to families in need, we will raise money to purchase grocery and mall gift cards that will be given to families in need to buy food, winter accessories, household items, and gifts for the holiday season.

If you would like, you can make a donation or ask friends or family if they would like to donate. Please visit or share our Ian Bazalgtte Holiday Campaign on the Education Matters website. Any monetary donations of $20 or more will be issued a tax receipt from Education Matters.

Our goal is $3000, which will go a long way to helping many families, of all backgrounds, in our school community.

Please make donations before Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

School Fees

School fees for Term 1/Semester 1 option/complementary course fees have been applied to the students accounts in MyCBE.

Please pay as soon as possible. Beginning in November, letters will be sent home to accounts in arrears.

More information about school fees can be found here. For information about Fee Waivers and the requirements are located here

Winter Solstice (Dec. 21)

Winter solstice is a celebration of light returning to Turtle Island. It is the shortest day of the year. Grandfather Sun begins to shine longer each day, bringing a promise of warmer weather, growth, and new life. It is a time for reflection, to look back at moons past and look forward to the “new sun” of the future; a time to appreciate what transpired over the past year, lessons that have been learned, and to set new intentions.
