Welcome Message from our New Indigenous Learning Leader

Oki, Dani t'ada, Âba wathtec, Tânisi, Taanishi, Bonjour, Hello

My name is Kirsten Riebot and I am so grateful to be joining the Ian Bazalgette community for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year in the role of Indigenous Education Strategist.

I am from Missisaugaus of the Credit territory in Ontario, but have lived in Moh’kins’tsis on and off for 16 years and now consider it home. When I’m not working, I’m raising two tiny humans and spending time outside with my family.

I look forward to working with school administrators and teachers to continue the work of advancing the well-being and achievement of self-identified Indigenous students at Ian Bazalgette School.

Tammy Johnston and I are working together to ensure a smooth transition for students and families. This week, I will be visiting each learning space to introduce myself and connect with students.

Parent-Teacher Conferences Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29, 2024.

Information regarding the conferences and how to book a time for those conferences will be mid-week.

Dressing for the Fall Weather

We are now potentially moving into winter weather beginning this week and beyond. Please ensure your child is dressed in layers to support the outdoor learning and lunch opportunities we offer each day. This is a great time to remind all students to swing by the lost and found to find those items they left outdoors during a warm lunch break.

Personal Mobile Devices

Parents are asked to refrain from contacting their child/student on their PMD during the school day to avoid unnecessary distraction. Parents can contact the school office who can facilitate contact with their child/student during the school day, if needed.

School Fees

School fees for Term 1/Semester 1 option/complementary course fees have been applied to the students accounts in MyCBE.

Please pay as soon as possible. Beginning in Nov. letters will be sent home to accounts in arrears.

More information about school fees can be found here. For information about Fee Waivers and the requirements are located here

Please familiarize yourselves and your student with the procedure for students leaving school early.

  1. Parent writes and sends a note with their child.
  2. Student is fully responsible for showing the note to the teacher and leaving a few minutes before parent is to pick-up.
  3. Student goes to the office, hand in the note to staff, and sign out.

  5. Parent arrives, rings buzzer, identifies themselves, reason for arrive and name of who they are picking up. Waits outside for student to be sent out.
