Personal Mobile Devices

Personal mobile devices include any device that can be used to communicate with or access the internet, such as cell phones, tablets, gaming devices, laptops, or smartwatches. This also includes devices capable of communicating with a mobile device, such as headphones and Bluetooth devices (e.g., earbuds and speakers).

These rules apply to all students, with exceptions for:

  • Health and medical needs
  • Specialized learning needs
  • Educational purposes

The CBE will block student access to known social media platforms on school networks and school devices for all grade levels.

K–9 Students:
Personal mobile devices are not permitted during the school day. Devices brought to school must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. They should be left in backpacks, lockers, or areas designated by teachers — or, ideally, left at home.

Grade 10–12 Students:
Personal mobile devices are not allowed during class time unless permitted by teachers for specific learning tasks. Devices should be silenced or turned off and stored in a bag, backpack, locker, or designated area as directed by teachers.

If a student is found using a personal mobile device without teacher permission, the CBE will work with the student to ensure expectations are understood, following a progressive discipline policy. In rare cases where interventions are unsuccessful, personal mobile devices may be banned. View our Personal Mobile Devices page for more details.

Psychological Services

We are happy to report that our school has been assigned Psychological Services for Semester 2. A psychologist will be on site two days per week to assist informally with reviewing supports for students.

Formal consultations for counselling will occur through formal referrals and with direct consent from parents/guardians.
