Next Year School Planning
Please let us know if your student is planning not to return to Ian Bazalgette for the 2026–2027 school year (this does not include current Grade 9 students).
Science Program Registration: Students currently enrolled in the Science Program at Ian Bazalgette will be automatically re-enrolled for next year. Families do not need to submit an Expression of Interest through SchoolEngage.
Lunch and School Supervision
The local community centre and nearby strip mall are open to students at lunch, as the school supports junior high students with growing levels of freedom and responsibility. However, please note there is no staff supervision at these locations. We encourage families to speak with their students about being aware of their surroundings when out in public spaces.
We remain a closed campus at lunchtime. Students need to bring their lunch or eat lunches provided by the school. Microwaves are not available for student use, and we are unable to accept deliveries from Skip the Dishes, DoorDash, Uber Eats, or similar services at the main office – drivers will be asked to return the delivery to the restaurant.
School Fees
School fees for Semester 2 option and complementary course fees have been applied to student accounts in MyCBE. Please pay promptly. Please note that fee waivers do not apply to complementary course fees. There are also some outstanding fees from Semester 1 that must be paid in full.

Personal Mobile Devices
Personal mobile devices include any device that can be used to communicate or access the internet, such as a cell phone, tablet, gaming device, laptop, or smartwatch. This also includes devices that communicate with a mobile device, such as headphones, earbuds, and Bluetooth speakers.
These rules apply to all students, with exceptions for health and medical needs, specialized learning needs, and educational purposes:
- CBE will block student access to known social media platforms on school networks and devices for all grade levels.
- K–9 Students: Personal mobile devices are not permitted during the school day. Devices must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent – left in backpacks, lockers, or designated areas, or better yet, left at home.
- Grade 10–12 Students: Personal mobile devices are not allowed during class unless teachers permit them for specific learning tasks. Devices should be silenced or turned off and stowed in a bag, backpack, locker, or designated area.
Students found using a personal mobile device without permission will be supported through a progressive discipline policy. In rare cases where interventions are unsuccessful, a student may have their device banned from school.
Psychological Services
We are pleased to report that our school has been assigned Psychological Services for Semester 2. A psychologist will be on site two days a week to informally assist with reviewing student supports. Formal counselling consults will occur through official referrals and with direct parent or guardian consent.
Tall Ship Sailing Fundraiser
A group of Grade 8 and 9 students will be travelling to Victoria, BC in April for a 5-day, 4-night sailing trip on a tall ship. They are planning several fundraisers and would love your support!
- March 7 – Bottle Drive: Please hold onto your recyclables! Students will be in the community to pick them up on March 7. You are also welcome to send a bag of cans or bottles to the school in advance – we are happy to store them.
Got Lunch?
We remain a closed campus at lunchtime. We want to remind families that students need to bring their lunch or eat the lunches provided by school. We are not able to provide access to microwaves for student use. As a reminder, we are not able to receive Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc. in the main office. The driver will be asked to return the delivery to the restaurant.
